Scraps Of Darkness June kit release

This week has been crazy long and very busy.  I am excited to be able to sit down and finally dig into this months kit from Scraps of Darkness.

Today is the official release and I know you will love what all the ladies have in store for you over at the Scraps Of Darkness blog.

June's kit 'White Rabbit' has some really beautiful papers from Authentique, 7 Dots Studio, dylusions ink spray and more scrappy fun pieces.

The photo of my dear daughter at her 2011 fall choir concert.  I am so proud of her and personal accomplished this past year.  Using 7 Dots Studio paper from the White Rabbit kit and the beautiful sketch provided by Suepup; I created this layout.  A few other supplies I used are zva creative pearls, Tim Holtz distress ink vintage photo, Bo Bunny noteworthy die-cuts, dabbers sail boat blue & sunshine yellow, prima flowers and prima decorative wood embellishments.

Sketch by Suepup

For the next layout I used the below sketch created by Lisa at  She has created several beautiful sketches and boy am I glad because my mojo has been on vacation.

The photo are of my two oldest nieces.  I am so very proud of them.  The oldest on the left just received her drivers permit and is driving everyone crazy (no pun intended).  Both are matured into beautiful young ladies and I am very very privileged to be their Aunt.

Another Father's Day Card

Hello there everyone!

I am here with another father's day card, this one was made for my Daddy.  Although these days he is better known as Papaw.

(Yes the man in the background in my dear hubby.)

He is a my daddy, my kiddos Papaw, a police man, a husband and a fabulous friend.

I hope he knows just how much he is loved!!

I used Bo Bunny Et Cetera paper to create the base for the card.  Next I used My Creative Time's XL Label Die and sentiment stamp set Here's Looking At You, inked with Memento rich cocoa. The 'w' on the sentiment was added using Stampabilities wood stamps.  The button is prima, brad is Teresa Collins, flowers from the Paper Studio and a Jenni Bowlin Doily Flower complete the card.

I used a Twisted Sketch - Card sketch #110 for inspiration and hope you are able to play along as well.

I am entering this card at Creative Cutter Room Father's Day Challenge.

"Color" Challenge at My Creative Time

Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Father's Day weekend.  We decided to skip the river and had a wonderful lazy day, spending time with just the kids.  Went to the theater, saw Snow White and the Seven Huntsmen.  Although a little slow in parts, the movie was entertaining.  Charlize Theron did a fantastic job as the Dark Queen Ravenna.

Last Friday was my nephew's birthday and I made him the card below.  I used the colors from My Creative Time's 'Throwback Thursday color challenge' to create the car and background.

Challenge Details:
~ Use any OLDER CARTRIDGE of YOUR choice
~ This is a COLOR challenge using the colors below in the CUTE owl picture!
~ Make a card, layout or any 3-D project for this challenge
~ Deadline for this challenge is on Wed, June 20th
~ Link up your projects to Mr. Linky in this post & leave a comment
~ ONE LUCKY Winner will win my "June Stamp Release"!

I used Cricut Cartridge Father's Day and cut the card at 4 inches.  The clouds are fussy cut from Peachy Keen Stamps PKSC-02 February 2012 stamp set, inked with Tim Holtz distress ink pad Faded Jeans.

The ribbon is American Crafts and the sentiment is from My Creative Time 'Celebrate Good Times' stamp set. The windows, tires, light and grill have glossy accents coating.  The photo above, taken outside, is really shiny, so the picture below is another taken inside.

Have wonderful week!

Sketchy Inspiration

Happy Friday to all my wonderful friends!

First, THANK YOU! Thank you to all who left a comment or emailed in regards to my post the other day.  I hope you know how much I appreciate your advice, words of wisdom and/or help.

Second, it seems that Lisa of Living In Color was reading my mind yesterday as I was sitting at my desk thinking to myself that I needed to find some sketchy inspiration.  Today Lisa posted not one...but three inspirational sketches that I was excited to see.  So last night I sat down with Sketch #3.

The paper  and a few embellishments used is from Scraps Of Darkness February Victorian Kit (I know I am way way behind on layouts); prima flowers; creative charms brads; American Crafts chipboard letters; rub-ons from K&Company, Kaisercraft, prima; Zva Creative pearls; prima craft resistant canvas; and petaloo flowers.

The young lady in the photo is my niece Tammi when she was in the third grade.  I call her 'Sunshine' hence the title.

Until next time - happy scrappin'! ~ Carol

Did I just get scammed & another crazy week...

It's been another crazy week!

Someone turned on the heater in Texas - so so hot in June!
(picture, my car - yesterday)

First week of summer break - the kids are all ready bored (LOL).

I have started 5 different projects - can't seem to get them finished. Here is a peek at one of the projects...

Also, I have been trying to get in touch with someone about the Tim Holtz Distress Markers I bought back in March.

I have never been so upset, sad, and disappointed at the same time.  I pre-ordered the entire set of Tim Holtz Distress Markers from (what I thought) was a reputable individually owned company back in March. A few weeks after, I was told they were back-ordered, understandably - the markers are in high demand.  Next came a round of excuses that Ranger keeps pushing the order back due to demand.  I tried contacting Ranger but never received a response. Finally I asked for a refund from the seller but received no response from said person. For two weeks, I tried contacting seller. Over the weekend and early this week I find that all points of contact for said person has been deleted or shut down; Facebook, blog, website,emails, Paypal account...everything.

Nothing like this has ever happened to me and I am at a loss for words.  I have heard stories but it's never happen to me and I am upset that a fellow crafter would do something like this.  I know this person sold the markers to others and also other products like class kits and so on.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do I just let it go?

Thanks - until next time - happy scrappin'! ~ Carol
