Wrap It Up - Candle

Merry Christmas Eve!

Christmas is just hours away.  I am excited and ready for tonight with my extended family and for tomorrow with just my hubby and kids.

This Christmas season came so fast and seems that it's passing just as quickly, so I am enjoying it every single minute of it.

At Bitten by the Bug 2, you are challenged to create a project using Cricut Cartridge Wrap It Up candle or any other candle.

I used the candle from Wrap It Up, added a flower from cartridge Flower Shoppe (pg. 21; Mum2 @ 2") and the Happy Holidays from cartridge Phrases (pg. 24 @ 2").  The card cut is actually the tag 'fit to length' from the Phrases cartridge on page 57.  All the paper is from Die Cuts With a View, The Luxury Stack and The Glitter Cardstock Stack.  I used my 1.5" create-a-sticker from Xyron to adhere all my cuts and scotch foam tape to give the phrase some dimension.

Hope you all have a Happy Christmas Eve!

Until next time - happy scrappin'! ~ Carol

Can you believe Christmas is only a few days away?!

Baking is the only job I have left to do.  We are ready for Santa to come to our house, are you?

With the kids and I on holiday, keeping them entertained is fast becoming a full-time job but I am loving the family time together.

Today's project is not a Christmas one but a layout for my son's baseball pictures.  Bitten By the Bug 2 challenge is 'Sport-tastic', any new project with a sport theme.

I used the Cricut Cartridge Baseball and pattern paper by The paper Studio to create this sporty layout.

Fabulous News...

Happy Monday!

Fabulous news I have wanting to share!

I am now a part of the Twisted Sisters!

That is I made the Design Team for Twisted Cards at Twisted Sketches!

I love their card sketches with a little twisted and am so excited to be able to work with these amazingly talented ladies!

For the design team call, we had to provide our take on the following card sketch and 'Numbers' was the twist.

I look forward to this new adventure with Twisted Sisters Cards.  My first sketch/challenge with the team starts in January 2012, so come back or better HERE.

Christmas Cards

TGIF!  You have no idea how relieved I am that this crazy and busy week is over.

Between all the finals (mine and kids) and work, crafting had to take a back seat but last night I was able to sit down and make a few cards.

Today is the final day before Holiday vacation begins for my kids.  Today is also their Holiday party.  I made each teacher a simple card and inside is a gift card to Starbucks and a mini clipboard with notepad - a little something to show my appreciation for their hard work.

The mini clipboards I found at target and just added prima flowers, ribbon and paper from Die Cuts With a View The Mod-Retro Stack.  Sentiment 'Just A Note' is from Unity Stamp Company.

The first card is for my son's teacher and the three similar cards are for my daughter's teachers.  The paper is all Echo Park Paper Merry Christmas collection, archival inks crimson and coffee by Ranger.

The gift card is my new favorite product from My Creative Time.  This gift card die is so easy to use - I love it!  The stamps on the outside of the cards and on gift card holder are from My Creative Time - All Around Christmas set.

Until next time - happy scrappin! ~ Carol

Advent Calendar

Welcome to Workman Scraps.

Hope you are having a great weekend and getting a little craft time in.

Today's post will be quick - as I have finals this week and must get a little study time in (grrr, I'd rather be crafting).

I created my first advent calendar but I never expected the response from my kids when they saw it.  They thought it was 'so cool' and kept saying 'all right', 'we get a treat...each day'.  I just laughed. Sometimes I forget how excited kids can get over the smallest of things.

Supplies used to create the calendar: Echo Park Paper Merry Christmas, Maya Road Wood numbers, Making Memories wordfetti Noel, Dress It Up, Clearsnap smooches: lettuce, green apple, siren.

Scraps Of Darkness - Purple Haze

Hello everyone.

Can you believe that Christmas is almost here?  I still have whiplash from November going by so fast.  Hence this post.

Scraps Of Darkness has a monthly kit for the "alternative scrapper".  The papers, flowers, trinkets and color are usually dark, distressed and steampunked.  This kit lets my dark side create too.

I am finally able to sit down with the November kit, Purple Haze.  Along with the kits each month, you receive a sketch provided by Suepup (see below).

My take features a photo of my daughter taken in 2009 after a great day at Vacation Bible School.   At home we I call her 'Babygirl' not sure why, just always have.  Majority of the supplies come from Scraps Of Darkness November kit: Purple Haze.  The sentiment is a Unity Stamp Company/Donna Downey stamp.

If you enjoyed this months sketch, stop by Scraps Of Darkness Blog on their reveal day - the 15th of each month.

Until next time ~ happy scrappin'!

Hope you are finding your way around the new site.  Please let me know if you have any trouble or find any broken links. (Thank you)

This layout was created for team 1, week 3 Round Robin Challenge over at Scraps Of Darkness.  I used the November 2011 Purple Haze kit.  The pattern paper used in my page is on of the kits pattern paper from Glitz Design.  I love the various patterned birds and the colors are amazing.

The flowers and flower vine are from prima and the butterfly is from petaloo.  Other supplies used are:  Kaisercraft Alph chipboard spritzed with Tattered Angles Blitzen glimmer mist, EK Success punch, Martha Stewart punch, vintage photo and seedless preserves distress inks.

Many Thanks...

Lately I feel like time is an enemy.  And the more I try to capture a little extra, time goes faster.

As the holidays approach I am assaulted with reminders of why we should make time for family, friends and ourselves.

There are many many people and treasures that I am thankful for and for the rest of this week, I will let you in on a few.

Today, I am thankful for my freedom and my job.

Looking around, not just in my home town, but across the world I realize more than ever the sacrifices countless others have given so that I can live my life free.

I made this card for a friend - just because - letting her know how thankful I am for her friendship.

Supplies: Cricut Cartridge CTMH Art Philosophy - pg. 62 Decorative Layer @4" and Oval5 @ 4";
Cricut Cartridge Phrases - pg. 22 Phrase 3/Shadow Layer @ 1", Paper from DCWV and We Are Memory Keepers.

Also, I am thankful for my job...I know it's not the best and it my not be my dream job but this job puts food on my table and allows my family to live in comfort.

What are you thankful for?

Until next time - happy scrappin'! ~ Carol

Now for Breaking Dawn...WOW!!! About sums up the movie. From the Directing to the acting, this is (so far) my absolute favorite. Everyone did an amazing job and I am anxious to see the movie again. For me it was an emotional ride. Part 2 can not come out too soon for me!

Pixie Dust Studio Breaking Dawn Hop

Welcome to Carolee's Scrappin' Spot and the Breaking Dawn Blog Hop with Pixie Dust Studios!

I have waited four years for this!

The day the world gets to see...Isabella Marie Swan marry Edward Anthony Masen Cullen!
Today starting at four - my sister and I are hitting the theaters early for the Twi-athon and finishing at 12:31 p.m. with Breaking Dawn!  I will post pictures tomorrow.

I am honored and excited to be apart of this hop and I know you will enjoy the inspiration and beauty each one of the lovely ladies in this hop will be sharing today.  You should have come here from Caz's blog. If by chance you did not, please find your way to the beginning at Pixie Dust Studio Pixie Challenge.

If you don't know anything about me, know this...I am in love, addicted, and a little obsessed with the whole Twilight Saga! I am Twi-hard and proud of it!!!

So when Margie was asking for participants for this hop, I jumped at the chance.  I was able to choose 2 images so I chose Jasper and Alice (two of my favorites).  First up is Jasper.

Yes, I am Team Jasper. Which one are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?  Next is Alice!  I love her character and her style in the book and out.

Is she not just gorgeous!
The sentiment says, "There are no rules that can bind you when you find your other half."

I colored them both with copics and added some stickles for 'sparkle'.  The paper is from DCWV: the Immortal Love Stacks.  Throw in some Zva, prima and ribbon for good measure and the sentiment and Team Jasper are Artful Inkable stamps.

Hope you enjoyed my Twilight inspired cards today.  Next stop for more Twi-inspired fun is Lisa Thorpe.  Make sure you visit and comment on everyones post and finish at Pixie Dust Studio

The Prizes from Pixie Dust Studio's are....
- One grand prize will be awarded to the person who plays along with our Twilight Inspired Challenge, which will end on Wednesday, 11/23rd Noon CST. The Pixies would love to have you join them in this FUN challenge!

- Two other prizes will be awarded to Hoppers who have completed the hop and leave a comment on the Pixie Dust Studio Blog!!!!

- WINNERS will be chosen through and will be announced during next Thursday's Challenge (11/24th)

Happenings around here and Twisted Sketches #84

Welcome to Carolee's Scrappin' Spot!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Tuesday.

Do you know what happens in 2 days?
Well for those who are unaware, BREAKING DAWN hits theaters on the 18th at 12:00 a.m.  And YES I will be one of the many many viewers waiting in line for hours (so I get a good seat **wink**) to watch the movie! I am more than a little obsessed in love with the whole Twilight Saga!

Of course, what better way to celebrate but to have a Breaking Dawn themed blog hop on November 17th. So be sure to stop back in for a little ok, a lot of inspiration hosted by Pixie Dust Studios and maybe a giveaway or two.

Also, today I am sharing a card I made for my daughter.  She had her first choir concert a few days ago and she was extremely nervous.  For her - getting up in front of one person is an accomplishment but to get up in front of hundreds was simply amazing.  She is the sweetest girl but also the shyest person I know.  Which is hard for me to understand because I am NOT

I used a sketch from Twisted Cards #84 to make a simple card.

Thank you again for stopping in.

And don't forget I have a giveaway going on HERE.
